The Narconon® Drug Rehab Program
Assessment & Orientation
A person who is participating in the Narconon drug rehab program is referred to as a student because they are learning how to
live a drug-free life. A full medical assessment is performed prior to enrollment. The assessment is used to create an individual plan of
treatment for the student.
Drug Free Withdrawal Program
Before an individual can start the rehabilitation process they must be withdrawn off drugs or alcohol. At
Narconon Arrowhead, a person is put through a carefully designed withdrawal program that enables him or her to come off drugs without
experiencing the usual agony of withdrawal. Withdrawals are done under 24 hour staff supervision. Once the withdrawal portion of the program is
completed the individual is prepared to enroll in the full Narconon rehabilitation program.
The Drug Rehabilitation Program
There are eight phases of rehabilitation and a final review and discharge planning phase that comprise the
full Narconon program.
The First Phase is Therapeutic Training Routines which help an individual better his ability to
confront and handle life. This greatly aids the withdrawal period.
The Second Phase is the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program. Drugs can leave residuals that
accumulate in the body and trigger cravings for more drugs as well as produce flashbacks years after a person has come off drugs. A vital step in
the rehabilitation is flushing out these toxins and metabolites so the person no longer experiences unwanted adverse effects from drugs he has
taken. This program is done under close supervision. It includes running, sauna and a regimen of vitamins and minerals all designed in proper
combinations to enable accumulated toxins to be flushed out of the system. Due to the strenuous nature of this program, a person is required to
obtain a medical OK to start this program.
The remaining phases of the program is conducted in a course room. In there, the students learn
Life Skills:
The Learning Improvement Course
A student learns how to recognize and correct the barriers to study that would inhibit him or her from fully
grasping and applying his materials. An understanding of these barriers is vital in ensuring that the student can learn and apply what they learn
to their life.
The Communication & Perception Course
Drugs tend to push a person into experiences of the past and stick him or her in these experiences. Often he
or she is not aware that this is occurring. They inhibit ones' ability to perceive life as it actually is, and can make a person think he or she
sees, understands, hears or reads something that isn't really that way.
The Communication & Perception Course utilizes exact procedures and exercises which get a person's
attention into the present, as opposed to being stuck in past experiences.
This course utilizes exact procedures and exercises which get a person's attention into the present, as
opposed to being stuck in past experiences. The benefit of this is that an individual can now see the present with more increased awareness and
perception of his environment and others, and so gains an ability to better control their own life and be cause over their environment instead of
being the effect of life and surroundings.
The Ups & Downs in Life Course
A major breakthrough in human behavior was isolating the exact characteristics of two distinct types of
personalities - the social and the antisocial personality.
When people are associated with an antisocial personality they become unstable and can decline both
physically and mentally. They cease to be able to control their life and environment well, and when this occurs with a drug user, his or her
recovery and stability are threatened.
On this course, the student learns the characteristics of social and antisocial personalities so they can
identify suppressive or oppressive influences in their life are vital to stably stay off drugs.
The Personal Values and Integrity Course
Despite any propaganda to the contrary, the truth is that a person does not survive well unless he or she
conducts himself in an honest ethical manner. People are only ethical when they are strong. When examining ethical solutions and behavior one is
examining reason or rationality toward the highest level of survival for the individual, his family, group, mankind, and all those things which
help his survival.
This course teaches a student an understanding of ethics and how to establish for himself or herself what is
ethical or unethical, how to formulate guidelines for personal and constructive survival in all areas of their life.
The student confronts the actions they have done in the past (as well as failures to act when they should
have) which have adversely affected them and others, to a point where they feel real relief from this self-examination process.
Changing Conditions in Life Course
This course gives the student the exact formulas to use to improve any condition or area in his life. A
formula is a rule or method of doing something. On this course, one learns to recognize the exact condition that something is in, and identify it
and apply the exact steps to improve the state of the condition he is seeking to change.
The Way to Happiness Course
The decline of moral values in our society is making it harder and harder for people to survive and find
happiness. Morals are the principles of right and wrong conduct. There is often confusion over what is moral and what is immoral.
The Way to Happiness Course introduces the student to a moral code based on common sense. A moral code is a
series of agreements to which a person consents or agrees to, so that the survival of a group is guaranteed. For instance, do not steal, treat
others as you would want them to treat you, do not be promiscuous, are basic guidelines that if practiced in life would help one get along better
with others and avoid pain and upset.
This course gives the student a common sense moral code which can be used to start a new life - a life not
only free from drugs but also where real happiness and joy are possible.
Final Review/Discharge Planning
Planning for the student's discharge and return to society as a productive member of that group is done from
the time the student arrives at the program.
The student is interviewed to determine any potential difficulties that they will have to face as they move
forward with their life. From this interview and assessment, a program is worked out with the student to address these specific situations. The
student may take additional courses or study additional information pertinent to his or her survival such as how to better manage finances, how
to set and attain goals, how to handle marriage or children more successfully, etc.
After-Care/Follow-Up Services
Once the person is completed with their program and goes on with the business of living their life, they may
run into situations which they may not be able to easily handle, or which create a great deal of upset and turmoil. The graduate may also feel
that more life skills are needed to effectively address various areas of his or her life and interpersonal relationships. For this reason, we
provide an After-Care program wherein the graduate can come back to Narconon Arrowhead as needed to address these difficulties, or as best
determined by a follow-up counselor.
By providing continuous after-care as needed, a student is assisted in gaining increased control of his or
her life.
If you have any questions concerning the program please feel free to ask the In-take Counselor who can help
give you more information. We want to ensure that you have no confusion about the services you are doing.
